ABOUT MUSIC & COPYRIGHTS
Students from Texas A&M University School of Law will present, “Music and Copyrights, The Legal Aspects of the Music Business” on June 6 at 10:00 a.m. This presentation will address copyright, licensing, and infringement issues facing artists in the music industry. The students will focus on the copyrightability and ownership of songs, royalties obtained from songs through licensing, and basic infringement issues facing artists. The important time to learn about these legal issues is before they are a problem that could potentially cause an artist to suffer through costly litigation or serious monetary injury. This presentation will also be followed by a panel discussion from attorneys in the entertainment industry including: Andrea Perez of Kessler Collins, P.C and Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts; and Melissa Eckhause of Texas A&M School of Law and the Art Institute of Fort Worth.
